Set up your modem to connect to the Internet

The following article explains how to set up your Hitron CDA-RES Cable Modem to connect to the Internet for the first time.

Before you begin

When you receive your new modem, the following items should be included in the box:

• 1 CDA-RES Cable Modem
• 1 RJ45 Cable
• 1 Power Adapter (output 12V-1A)

Additionally, you should already have a working coaxial cable provided by the cable network provider.

Getting started

To set up your Hitron CDA-RES Cable Modem, do the following:

1. From the top of the modem, connect the coaxial cable to the Cable socket. Make sure the thin copper filament is properly inserted in the hole.
2. From the top of the modem, connect the RJ45 cable. Connect the other end to your computer.
   NOTE: If you are using a router so you can wirelessly connect to the Internet, connect the other end of the RJ 45 cable to your router's WAN or INTERNET port only. GTA Telecom does not support configuration of third-party routers. Please refer to the manaufacturer's documentation for configuration details.
3. From themodem, connect the power adapter. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet. The Power light turns blue.
4. Wait at least 30 seconds. The lights on your modem should be as follows:
   • Power (1st light): solid green
   • Three middle lights: solid blue
   • Link (5th light): blinking. This indicates data is being transmitted.

Your new modem is set up.
